Dr. Kang Kang, better known as K2, has a Ph.D. in bioinformatics and systems biology from The University of Hong Kong, and was a scientific co-worker at The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (HKI, Germany), and a visiting scientist at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Biosustain).
In 2021, Kang became a synthetic biology platform startup’s co-founder and Chief Informatics Scientist. In addition to being a scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur, Kang is also a popular science enthusiast in biotechnology, a Zhihu writer, and an advisor and author of Regenesis, a science media in synthetic biology.
In 2023, Kang decided to join LinkZill with his industry insights and values-driven missions as his second entrepreneurial journey, to “take revenge” on the operating model for biosciences that treats people as “consumables”.

Three months ago, I met Dr. Feng Linrun for the first time in what was probably the most self-blocking and self-denying period of my life. I am a hard-to-please guy, however, every detail of Linrun himself and his description of his colleagues from LinkZill made me curious about this company. So I decided to visit LinkZill. Soon I fell into the company due to the professionalism and sincerity of its partners, engineers, and fellows. After being captivated by “Linking zillions of hearts with love”, I decided to join the venture of “Linking zillions of people and technology”, and to link our technologies to incubate great semiconductor products for life sciences.
As the first bioscientist at LinkZill, I introduced my family history of genetic diseases, genomic data, and even value coordinates to my new colleagues. I did not hesitate to express my disappointment and disdain for the status quo of my discipline, which is to advocate rote memorization and repetitive work, and introduced my career path driven by such values, as well as my “revenge plan” against the operating model in life sciences that treats people as “consumables”. In the past, I have tried to change the operational mode of life science R&D with the concept of “Biotech Industry 4.0”, which combined innovations in automation hardware and software to reduce the reliance on scientists on the design, execution, and evaluation of biological experiments. However, I still believe that the existing mechanical automation solution is just a transitional scheme, due to its high cost and low variability. As AI rapidly unlocks the ability to design biological sequences and systems, the build and test stages are increasingly becoming bottlenecks in the R&D circle. To undertake emergent bio-design capacity in terms of throughput, cost, and integration capability, and to liberate humans from repetitive work in the build and test stages, should be the next-generation technology represented by bio-semiconductors. And the accumulation and inspiration of LinkZill made me realize that such a revolution is expected to be realized in our hands.
Seeing the hope of linking people and technology, I decided to join LinkZill as an “Avenger” and become the “Ambition” in LinkZill’s life science territory.

Very glad to have Kang join LinkZill. It’s a great honor and pleasure to work together with my excellent partner’s team Yixing Yang, Zhe Liu, and lately Kang KANG. LinkZill will be looking forward to the great adventure of bringing TFT semiconductor into the area of life science for much higher efficiency and lower cost!

Kang brought us many valuable insights: Like what a rewarding experience it is to walk at a fast pace, to think on a slow rhythm, and combine them together when it needs.Like how clever it is to do things beautifully and at the same time to express the logic in a straightforward way. How clever it is to express the subtlety under many “roughness“ characteristics. And how clever it is to present the greatest power in a calm voice.
Welcome to join the LinkZill team, Dr. Kang! If it is a comfortable journey forward, we will go together towards every starry night and every dimly-to-shimmerying morning. If it is damn to be a tough trip, it’s much better to burn with grace instead of staying just alive.
